Do you know what indoor air pollution is

If you REALLY do, you are in a small group. Over half of the people in Dubai CLAIM to know in a survey conducted by YouGov for the UAE Ministry of Environment.  But as you’ll see, they really don’t.  25% of the people surveyed say they are regularly taking active measures to reduce it, and 31% do something occasionally when they remember!

Here are some things people are doing to reduce indoor air pollution.  It’s a good list for energy reduction, and it’s at least a start for addressing indoor air pollution.

  • Switching off appliances when not in use
  • Setting the AC on 24 degrees or above
  • Recycling products
  • Putting full loads in the dishwasher or washing machine
  • Taking shorter showers

BUT!  Only 30%  said they are investing in air purifying devices, which is the BEST method to control indoor air pollution.  And 28% said they were unaware that air purifiers are a method to reduce indoor air pollution. (Seriously?)

Nearly half of UAE residents (48 per cent) reported that either they themselves or their family members have suffered irritation in their eyes, nose or throat as a result of indoor air pollution.

More than a third have also experienced skin allergies (35 per cent) and breathlessness (34 per cent) as a result of polluted indoor air.  And more women than men said they or family have suffered these conditions.

Some people claim to have suffered more severe illnesses such as asthma (28 per cent) and depression (14 per cent).

So where does this leave us?

Look, our goal is simple. Educate the 70% of people who don’t know about the most effective way to control indoor air pollution.  Which is an air purifier.

Any good one will reduce the virus particles, allergies, dust, fumes, gases, bacteria, pet dander and all the other stuff which makes our home air so polluted.

Of course, our Iris Air Purifier (www.facebook.com/airsafeme/ )does it better (but I would say that, wouldn’t I!).   And Iris never needs replacement filters. Not like all the rest!
